This site, created to commemorate Admiral Chungmugong’s victory at the Battle of Myeongnyang in 1597, preserves the appearance of the old fortress site as it was. It was designated a National Tourist Site in 1986 and a Memorial Park for the Battle of Myeongnyang in 1991, and it is currently used as a historical education site for the Battle of Myeongnyang. At a location overlooking Uldolmok, various experience spaces such as the Turtle Ship are prepared. Every October, the Battle of Myeongnyang Festival, the flagship festival of the Jeonnam-Gwangju Integrated Special City, is held, and on weekends a variety of attractions and programs are offered, including the Myeongnyang History Experience Yard. Throughout the park, sculptures depicting battles between militia and government troops during the Imjin War are displayed, conveying a vivid sense of history. Standing at the observatory within the park, you can take in a panoramic view of the Myeongnyang Strait, Jindo Bridge, the Myeongnyang Victory Monument, a rubbing of the monument, the Eorok Monument, and the Admiral Yi Sun-sin Relics Exhibition Hall all at once.
