Rite ceremonies + victory procession + flag-rigging parade + reenactment of the Battle of Okpo, etc
To commemorate the 1592 Battle of Okpo victory and to long pass on the spirit of Chungmugong to later generations, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in December 1991 at the storied Okpo Bay; a 30 m memorial tower, a worship platform, Okporu, an octagonal pavilion, an exhibition hall, and more were built, and Okpo Daecheop Memorial Park was completed in June 1996. Among these, the worship platform shaped like the character 'chung (loyalty)' holds the portrait of Admiral Yi Sun-sin. The exhibition hall displays relics related to Admiral Yi Sun-sin, such as a battle map of the Battle of Okpo, and Okporu is an octagonal pavilion that also serves as an observatory. The park holds a memorial rite for Admiral Yi Sun-sin every year, and the Okpo Daecheop Memorial Festival is held for about three days around June 16.
