*The festival content below is from the previous year's (2025) festival; the 2026 content is being updated.* The Jinju Namgang Yudeung Festival originates from floating yudeung (floating lanterns) on the Namgang River during the Battle of Jinjuseong in the Imjin War to block the Japanese army from crossing the river and to convey news to families. It was a representative festival of Korea designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and at the same time, having been selected as a Korea Global Cultivation Festival for five consecutive years, it is a premium festival expanding overseas.
