The National Treasure, the seven-story stone pagoda in Tappyeong-ri, Chungju, is a stone pagoda from the Unified Silla period that harmonizes beautifully with the stunning scenery of the Namhan River. It is the largest stone pagoda built at the time and is also called the Central Pagoda because it is located in the center of Korea. Around the central pagoda, a sculpture park has been created on a wide lawn, and the Chungju Museum and Sul Museum are located there. Meanwhile, Tangeum Lake, formed by building the Jojongji Dam on the Namhan River right next to it, offers summer water leisure activities, presenting Chungju as a city of recreational sports.
