The Daegu Chimaek Festival is Daegu’s representative summer cultural tourism festival, and in 2026 it was selected as one of Korea’s Local 100 and as a prospective global festival. It is the largest food and beverage festival in Korea, combining “chicken” and “beer.” Since its first event in 2013, it has continued to grow steadily, attracting one million visitors and significantly contributing not only to revitalizing the local economy but also to enhancing Daegu’s global brand value. Beyond a simple food and drink festival, it offers visitors a rich variety of experiences through performances, exhibitions, hands-on activities, corporate promotions, and global exchanges. The 2026 Daegu Chimaek Festival will be held from July 1 to 5 around Duryu Park. The main venue, 2.28 Freedom Plaza, will be decorated with a water concert theme combining water play and electronic music, and a new 360-degree central stage will also be introduced. Various themed spaces such as “Daefrica Waterpia,” “Chimaekte Chang Club,” and “Chisang Paradise EGG Island” will be created, and festival vibes will be further enhanced through artist-collaborated sculptures and photo zones.
