The following festival details are from last year’s festival (2025); the 2026 festival details are being updated.*Mokpo opened as a port in 1897 and, as a center of trade, logistics, and transportation, enjoyed the glory of being one of the nation’s three major ports and six major cities in the past. It led the revival of the local economy and is now the key city serving as the hinterland of the southwest coast. The Mokpo Harbor Festival is the only festival in the country to recreate the traditional pasi (wave market) of Mokpo Harbor, filled with the scent of the harbor, on Samhakdo, where folklore coexists, thereby widely promoting its historical value. It is also an autumn festival featuring events that fully capture the romance of Mokpo Port, such as a auction of seasonal seafood, and the opportunity to grill and cook the auctioned seafood on the spot.
