The Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival is Suwon’s premier comprehensive cultural and arts festival, creatively reinterpreting King Jeongjo’s eight-day visit to Hwaseong in 1795 with a modern sensibility. Historical moments recorded in the “Wonhaeng Eulmyojeongri Uigwe” are brought to life through performances, parades, hands-on experiences, and citizen participation programs, taking place at Suwon Hwaseong Fortress and Hwaseong Haenggung Palace, both UNESCO World Heritage sites. The flagship program, “King Jeongjo’s Royal Procession,” is the largest royal parade in Korea enjoyed by both citizens and tourists, showcasing the festival’s grand appeal. In addition, during the day, visitors can enjoy traditional cultural experiences and interactive programs, while at night they can enjoy high-quality performance content set against the beautiful scenery of Suwon Hwaseong, offering a special festival experience for both domestic and international visitors.
