장소 소개

Eight joyful days spent with the people, coming to a festival for the citizens. The grandest festival in Joseon history, a journey shared by both the people and the wise ruler! Along King Jeongjo’s royal procession route in 2026, we reflect on Jeongjo’s intentions as recorded in the “Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongri Uigwe.” In 1795, King Jeongjo traveled to Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon to celebrate the 60th birthday of his mother, Lady Hong of Hyeongyeonggung. King Jeongjo’s eight-day journey was not merely a king’s movement, but a historic event in which he shared joyful memories with the people. King Jeongjo’s spirit of caring for the people was recorded in the Wonhaeng Eulmyo Jeongri Uigwe and was widely distributed. In 2026, carrying on King Jeongjo’s spirit, the happy memories of the people will be recreated as the happy memories of citizens. The joint reenactment of King Jeongjo’s royal procession is a festival in which Seoul, Gyeonggi Province, Suwon, and Hwaseong collaborate to splendidly recreate the original form of the “Eulmyo Year Hwaseong Procession” for modern times.
