The Pohang Chimac Festival (chicken and beer) is a summer festival held around the Yeongildae Pavilion on the Sea, one of Pohang's signature attractions. It is organized to invigorate the local economy and draw visitors, and runs as a participatory cultural festival that all ages can enjoy together. The festival takes place over two days, from 21 to 22 August 2026, presenting an opening ceremony along with invited performances, performances by residents, an EDM party, a singing contest and hands-on programs. The grounds are laid out around chicken and beer sales zones, together with a water experience zone, an art experience zone and an event zone, offering stay-oriented tourism content that connects food, performances, hands-on activities and coastal sightseeing. Participatory programs in which residents and visitors take part directly, such as Chimac Star K, the Chimac King contest and a receipt lucky draw, broaden on-site participation. Through night performances and EDM programs, the festival seeks to invigorate nighttime tourism at Yeongildae and to expand Pohang's summer tourism content, thereby raising the city's tourism competitiveness and brand value.
