The Dalseong Daegu Contemporary Art Festival is a contemporary art festival held in the Gangjeongbo area, inheriting the spirit of the “Daegu Contemporary Art Festival,” where young artists of the 1970s challenged the rigidity of the established art world and engaged in diverse artistic experiments. Gangjeong, the site of the Dalseong Daegu Contemporary Art Festival, holds significance as the venue of Korea’s first collective event in 1977, during the 3rd Daegu Contemporary Art Festival, which saw participation from over 200 artists—the largest ever to date.
