Heo Jun Festival Pre-Concert and Performance

Heo Jun Neighborhood Park was named in honor of Heo Jun (1539–1615), the author of Dongui Bogam (25 volumes, p. 3106), who was born and died in this area (Gongam), as Seoul City developed a large-scale residential complex in this region and created a neighborhood park for nearby residents. Before the construction of Olympic-daero, this place was said to be a beautiful riverside where the river flowed all the way down to the bottom of the Tapsan cliff, and two rocks rose like pillars in the middle of the river. According to legend, this rock was called Gwangjuam because it was said to have drifted down from Gwangju, and as a result, the Gwangju military took several broom branches from Yangcheon as a gift from the rock, but after Yangcheon told them that they no longer needed them and to take them back, such incidents ceased. To preserve Gwangjuam, which was at risk of being buried due to land development, a new embankment was built to create a lake park, preserving the original form of the rock.
